I bought a dvd player for my son for Christmas. I would like to know whether it is possible to play dvd's (movies etc)by connecting the dvd player to his computer and viewing on his pc monitor. He has a pentuim 4 2.00ghz, Radeon Pro 128m graphics card and 500m of ram

I assume you're talking about a dvd player like a VCR. In that case, the solution is simple. If your video card has some sort of input jack then connect your dvd player. If not go buy a tv-in card for your PC.
P.S. If all you want to do is watch dvds on your pc this solution is fine. But if you want to use dvds for data or backup then you will have to buy a dvd drive for your computer. They're running about $100.

Yes its a standard dvd (like a vcr), so it can be done then, I will have to check if there is a input jack on his video card.
