Hi,
I just got a HP DV5000 laptop to repair that had a non-functioning mousepad. What happened was the customer had someone try to fix the laptop that didn't know what they were doing, and for some reason the USB ports are crushed/missing. So there are NO USB ports for this kid to plug in his Ipod. But all that is kinda beside the point. What I am wondering is what the deal is with this new type of PCMCIA port. It's called an ExpressCard/54. It's not rectangle like the PCMCIA cards. I am looking for one that is USB and am having a hard time finding one. Looks like mostly SATA and RAID and TV Tuner are available on these odd shaped cards. I am finding the USB on cards that they call "Express Card" - but the are rectangle. Maybe the do fit into this port but it's hard to tell, I would need dimensions. Is the ExpressCard and ExpressCard/54 the same thing? Or is the one that is odd shaped the "/54"??
I hope someone understands what I am talking about!!
Thanks!!

That's exactly what the CARD needs to look like - except that exact card is SATA. I am looking for USB. I saw that same exact page when I was searching it and thought I hit the what I was looking for, because of the shape of the card, and what the ports looked like, but than I read the description and saw SATA.
Thanks for looking!! :)
