Everything too big in HD

Specs: Windows 7, AMD Phenom II x4
I have a 19" Emerson LCD TV that I am using as my computer monitor. It goes up to 720p. When ever I plug my computer in to the TV via HDMI cable everything is too big, as in only half of an icon is displayed while the other half is somewhere off screen.. I checked the resolution and it was a full 720p. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I would really like to use full HD for gaming and such.

My graphics card is and EVGA GT 430 with the latest drivers.

"checked the resolution and it was a full 720p"

Was does that mean? You need to set the resolution to whatever the native resolution is for your TV/monitor. Could it be 1366 x 768?

Many TV's can be set to either a computer input or a TV input. It is best if the video card in the computer also supports each choice. In either case you have to set them to the same format then work on settings.
