I'm helping a friend fix his computer that he received from his grandmother. He can't get on the internet because the ethernet conn. isn't working. I noticed in the device manager that there are 3 ? under "other devices" (ethernet controller, PCI device and PCI simple communications controller). I don't know what motherboard it is, but it uses intel celeron chips. There are no discs for this computer. Where do I find the motherboard brand and the ethernet device drivers for this computer? Thanks

If it's an on-board port or the card originally came with the computer you'd go to the support page for the motherboard manufacturer or the system manufacturer (HP?). Otherwise, open the case and examine the card for model number or chipset type. Same thing with the 'PCI simple communications controller' (the modem). Not sure what the 'PCI device' is. It's best he download all drivers showing on the support page for his OS.
If he has no internet connection on another PC then maybe you or someone else can download the necessary files.
