eSata Help

If you look at the picture you will see it has 2 external SATA connectors. Well my question is, I'm looking to get an external hard drive that supports estat data transfer and want to no if this is the slot I use or do I need some sort of adapter?
Also I no its a little cheeky to ask, but does anyone have any good recommendations when it comes to external hard drives, so many on the market its hard to choose.
