MSWMM is not the video format, it is the preserved project. Open movie maker in your friend computer, open the project file (*.mswmm) and go right away to 'save as' and high quality. Window Movie Maker will save it now as 'wmv' ... just highlite wmv and replace it with mpg ... that's all, works fine for me.

About the preserved project:
Through the preserved project, you can keep your current edit job, you can go on the edit work from last save time with Window Movie Maker next time.

If it is damaged, it must be the path of material (audio, pictures or video files...) changed.
