Okay I did something stupid yesterday and installed a free screensaver. When I uninstalled it and I rebooted I got an error message in windows. I tried to reinstalled it to fix the problem but nothing. I also attempted to do a system restore to get rid of it but the restore point doesn't cover the time it was installed. I tried a couple days before and I got system restore incomplete. Windows is running without a problem but it kills me to see that message everytime I start up windows.

Here is the error message. How can I get rid of it.

netsh.exe - unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because framedyn.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem

Have you turned off the screensaver in Display Properties/Screensaver?

On the off chance that this problem is not related to the screensaver, check the msconfig startup tab for netsh.exe.

Okay, I check msconfig nothing there. Then I did a google search for netsh.exe. Apparently this doesn't seem to have been cause by that dumb screensaver. This is what I found. Have no idea how this problem started. The only changes I made to my computer recently was installing that screensaver and uninstalling.

Netsh.exe is a tool an administrator can use to configure and monitor Windows-based computers at a command prompt.

That's what I found but have no idea how to fix it.

xpuser,

Thank you very much. I was able to fix my problem. the Framedyn.dll was missing from the first location given on the MSKB. It was in my c:/documentsettings/JB. I have no idea how it got in there. The message kept coming up after I did everything they said on the site. I went in and deleted the extra copy in documentsettings and everything is running perfectly again.

There is nothing worse then system error it really bugs me.
