Error codes apearing at boot-up

so the first thing to do would seem to be replacing the cmos battery.like this: http://www.amazon.com/IBM-ThinkPad-... I had to replce one of these, i found that the battery was a CR2032 (fairly common) with wires fixed to it, so I bought a cr2032 and cut the wires off the old one and soldered to the new one. Solder does not take well to these batteries unless you scratch the surface to get the solder to 'stick' to it. I then wrapped electrical insulation tape around it. On that laptop the battery was under the cover where the ram is, kind of tucked under the edge out of the way. Don't know if yours will be the same.
Summary: I have a dealers logo that comes up at boot up.The problem however is getting to the BIOS. I have tried hitting [del] repeatedly whilst booting up but the dealers logo is persistent and I cannot enter...
