Hello, my computer runs fine for an hour or so, and then begins to heavily "stutter". Programs that once ran fine begin to skip and jump, or have extremly delayed reactions. Specifically, they seem to run fine for some seconds, then skip, then run fine again, etc. I have posted about this before and it was told that it could be overheating. Thus, I downloaded Hmonitor.exe, but the CPU tempetaure doesn't go above 52 degrees C. Also, I opened the case and felt the heatsink while I was having the massive slowdown, and it was warm, not hot as if it were overheating. I have checked my computer for spyware, and there is none, and I am pretty sure I do not have a virus since I never download anything. Recently, I have gotten a new error, mostly while loading a video game called Dark Age of Camelot; what happens is a blue screen, and although I cannot remember exactly, some things it said were IRQ_NOT_EQUAL_TO, Begging Pyshical Memory Dump, and an error in cmdu.sys. Further, sometimes when I start my computer, the massive slowdown begins right away, without happening an hour after I start it up as usual. I think I have covered everything, if any one has any idea what may be happening, please reply. Thanks in advance.

Be aware that you do not have to download anything to get a virus. Just being online is enough. You are especially vulnerable if you are not running a firewall.

I think its a combination of your RAM and your operating system. Typically, when you recieve messages or blue screens refrencing hexidecimal numbers, it is a good indication of bad RAM. You could try reseating the RAM to refresh it, however, I have never had luck at this. You could replace the RAM for relativly cheap. It could also be the connectors between the RAM and the slot which holds the RAM sticks.
I thought I would add this, your operating system wasn't designed for games, I ran 2000 and played the same game as you amongst many others, and let me tell you. Windows 2000 doesn't like games. 2000 uses an emulator to run applications that typically run under Win98/95, and I believe games also. This emulator was Microsofts way of making Win2000 backwards compatible with older systems. (ability to run games, and older Windows programs) However, this emulator was junked, it was sloppily thrown together, and crashes frequently. Unfortunatly, Windows never made a patch repairing this, instead they scraped the emulator, sold it packaged in the Win2000 and began working on a new OS (XP) So, if you want a game machine, Win2000 will be a headach. I reccomend the following for gamers in specfic order:Windows XP Home or Pro
Windows ME
Windows 98SE (OPTIONAL DUAL BOOT Windows 2000)
Anything else will be a headache for games, escpecially new games.

I have had the studder problem with xp too and did scandisk and 5 or 6 defrags in a row and it fixed my problem. For some reason xp's defrag doesn't want to completely defrag my harddrive and if I do it multiple times it eventualy gets rid of all the read.
