Has anybody got any ideas please as to how to sort a scanner problem that I have.
I have just bought an Epson 1260 photo scanner. I have installed the software without any problems (that I'm aware of) and then connected the scanner via USB as described. When I hot plugged the USB a comment came up on the screen saying it was found and software was loading. No problems so I thought.
However when trying to scan something it says to wait whilst scanner warms up, then nothing happens. Sometimes after a while, a message pops up to say to make sure that the scanner is connected to the computer. After trying this a couple of times the screen seems to freeze and I either have to use Ctrl,Alt Del or hold the power button for four seconds to close down. The printer I have is also Epson, a Stylus Colour 680, operated via standard cable ie not USB.
Has anybody any ideas as I'm at a loss as to what to try next.
Thanks in advance.

Try loosing power by unplugging the scanner momentarily and see if it picks it back up again. It worked for me on my HP scanner.

Thanks Clyde. Tried that but unfortunately it didn't work. I don't know if the scanner has a fault or not. I'll have to contact the shop on Monday and see what they say as I can't think of anything alse to try.

Cheers

Just a few quick thoughts.
Have you gone into the BIOS and checked the USB settings in there?
Also is the new scanner USB 1.1 or the new USB 2.0?

just my 2 cents worth,
