I have an epson color photo 870 printer that has started to print faint, red horizontal lines on my photos. I have tried cleaning the heads and have done everything I can do to the driver (updated, uninstalled, re-installed). Has anyone else had this problem?
At this point I am ready to chuck it. I would appreciate info on what's the best, affordable photo printer on the market. (Won't buy another epson, because their support and drivers are terrible)

I have been trying this morning to cure a similar problem on a 2 year old Epson Stylus 850 colour printer, costing £400 here in the UK, without success.

The colour print looked just like the example on the label inside the front cover that advises when the print head should be cleaned.

I used the utilities that come with the printer. First the nozzle check, which showed the heads should be cleaned, and then the print head cleaner a number of times, but to no avail. So have now e-mailed uk support for recommendations.

I found Epson support to be good, particularly the US site. Regrettably the same cannot be said for their spares supply.

Horizontal red lines have appeared on all print outs on our Epson Stylus 600.The lines vary in distance apart according to the dpi setting. Tried all the usual cleaning procedures but nothing seems to work.Nothing in any of the help services mention red lines, but it appears to be a problem.Will keep an eye on this site to see if anyone comes up with the answer....here's hoping.
