Specs: Windows 64
My Epson LX-300 Dot-Matrix printer. The printing head moves to the extreme right of the paper roller (mannual feed) and makes the complete printing outside the paper margins with out returning to the left margin! I have a Window-7 Operating system and tried the drivers for Epson-LX-300 and Epson Lx-300 80(1)

Hi Nkpappu,

Is it possible the Epson has been set up to emulate a different printer such as the IBM Graphics or IBM Proprinter.

If so, you will need to use the correct driver for whichever.

However the problem you describe suggest the printer is not receiving, or not acting on the end of line (EOL) control character(s). These are carriage return (CR) *AND* line feed (LF), or just line feed, which are standard across all dot matrix printers.

Does this happen with everything you try to print?

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

It's probably busted. Does it print a test page (not a windows test page but the one you get when holding down one of the buttons when turning it on)? If not then it can't be a driver problem.

Yes, it happens every time, even while printing the test page after using "Add a printer choosing the correct driver.

Hi Nkpappu,

This is worth a try, even though it may not cure.

Remove the top cover from the printer completely.

Blow out all the muck that has accumalated over the years, with a hairdryer set to cold and maximum blast. Use a long thin brush to assist.

Do not do indoors, otherwise mum/wife/girlfriend might put you in hospital! :-)

If possible disconnect/connect printhead motor connections - it is not reversing.

As a matter of interest, where are you located? I am in Hammersmith, West London.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

I said I didn't mean the windows test page. The test page I'm talking about is done with the printer off line or not even connected to the computer. Sometimes the output is just line after line of each character the printer will print. But if the head is still locked in the corner of the page then you know the printer is the problem.

If you don't know how to print that test page then consult the printer manual.
