My Epson Stylus C62 was working fine. I came to use it one day and it would not print - no matter what I tried. I un-installed the orinted and re-installed it and still it says connection error ( my cable is ok as I tried an older b&w printed out on it ) I downloaded the latest drivers from the Epson website - but still no joy. There is one thing though....when I try and install the drivers for the printer - whether from the installation disk or a downloaded driver from the website I get the " your computer has performed an illegal operation " message with a heading of " Eb_set06 "

What can I do, please help.

Two things come to mind. First, I had past problems with an Epson printer and finally determined it was the cable. Older printers don't necessarily require a bi-directional cable, but yours probably does. Second, I would suggest you downlosd and use a registry cleaner. Sounds like the drivers for the printer are corrupted but still exist. When you install software the program doesn't necessarily overwrite files. If the file name and date are the same it may leave the file intact. I would remove the printer and port. Then run the registry cleaner. Then re-install. One other thing, check to make sure the type of port needed by the printer is what you currently have enabled in the BIOS (SPP/EPP or both).

I`ve run a programme to clean the registry - but how do I check the BIOS? I am just using a paralell port attached to the LPT
