We have frequent power outages that shut down the computers. Our generator kicks in after about 30 seconds, but by then the computers are off. Does anyone know of a battery that will keep a PC running for a short time (until the generator takes over)?

It's called a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).

I don't get this. You must be at work, somewhere, if you have a generator. What kind of situation are you in?

And for gosh sake, if you ARE somewhere that you need a generator why haven't your administrators already SUPPLIED UPS's?

Is it possible that you have UPS's and that there is something wrong with it/them? Like the batteries are old?

Please give us details. Nobody ever seems to come here and ask the ENTIRE question.

What I forgot to say is, nowadays, you can buy a home use UPS just about anywhere. Office Depot. Staples. WorMart.

Thank you, I'll get a couple. I'm a private user, btw, so no administrator.
