I'm assuming it's a North American model.

Your probable mboard has NO built in wireless networking capability.

Your system did NOT come with a wireless networking adapter, but there is a wired networking adapter built into the mboard.

There is wireless networking support built into XP, but you must have a wireless networking adapter connected to the computer and the drivers installed for it in Windows in order to be able to use that capability.

On the emachines web site....

If you have an added on wireless networking adapter.....
On that page...

emachines never has anything more than a generic manual for the system.

emachines, Gateway, and Acer are all parts of the Acer Group of companies.
Cheaper computers, el-cheapo support.

This excellent third party web site:

...shows in this list of North American models.....

...that W3503 has this mboard:
IntelĀ® D101GGC (Grant County) Mainboard - unofficial support

It's a made by Intel mboard model that has an emachines bios version.

The Intel web site also has support and downloads for this D101GCC mboard. You can use any drivers or software download for D101GCC on their website for your W3503, except DO NOT use Intel bios updates on a mboard that has an emachines bios version !
