Hey guys, Im having some problems with an Emachines I obtained. Iv'e exhausted all the options that I know of.
Two days ago it turned on but now that I have tried it today it does not turn on so I replaced the powersupply and it turns on now but I still do not get video and it does not POST.
I have the motherboard striped out of the case right now and have tried using an AGP video card, I have tested the CMOS battery, I have used a new power supply, I have switched the ram into the 2nd slot.
The onboard video is not POSTing either, could it be that if the original Powersupply was failing and not showing video that when it finally did fail it took the motherboard with it?
I have exhausted every option I know to do and I can't get Video or a POST so I look to all of you for help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I've worked on a ton of emachines computers lately of that genre. Each one the motherboard and/or the PSU had to be replaced.

Thanks for your help, I also posted on Toms hardware forums and got the same answer that basically some part needs to be replaced.

Explain how you're benchtesting.
You should have the board laying on the table on a non-conductive surface (such as a piece of cardboard), CPU w/HSF, one stick of RAM, PSU, video card (or onboard) w/monitor, & keyboard...nothing else! To fire it up, momentarily touch a screwdriver to the 2 pins the power button would normally connect to.

Ah nice to talk to you again Jam, always a pleasent time coming on these forums knowing your still around helping everyone :D
Yep that's how im bench testing, I actually have the front panel hooked up to the motherboard so I don't have to "Jump" the power supply. And basically it's brain dead in so many words.Novak

If you take all RAM off the board, does it give you beep codes???
Also- are you sure the power switch on the front panel is working??

Yea I thought of that that maybe if I took out the Ram it would at least start beeping at me, but nothing so it's just totally dead as to it's not getting as far to even check ram.
