emachine t5212 motherboard upgrade

Specs: Windows xp, pentium D
emachines t5212 motherboard upgrade. system is old and not very good. I want to use it for my first build attempt. Am I stuck with this motherboard or can i upgrade cpu and motherboard? thanx in advance

If that system has never been upgraded before, adding more RAM, a video card, & a fresh install of XP would perk it right up. Otherwise, I suggest you build from scratch.

sry if I wasn't clear enough, but what I really want to do is upgrade from scratch, including mobo/cpu. will this case support any other kinds of motherboard? As i said this will be my first attempt so im still a newbie at this but learning a lot in the research process. ty

You're going to have to buy almost all new hartdware anyway, so why re-use the eMachines case? Sell your outdated system for as much as you can get (it won't be much) then build from scratch.
