Comment:
to test my emachine t2824 power supply, can I replace it with one from a t3506? The t3506 has two additional wires. One is connected at the motherboard socket with another wire from the power supply, so I would think that's ok. The other additional wire goes to a socket connection that is not used (no wire in the socket connection) in the t2824. I don't have the pc's with me at the moment so I can't say what colors the additional leads are or what socket connections they go to, but I could get that info later if needed.

Its ok to leave power supply wires unused. You just need to be sure your power supply has all the wires it needs to power your motherboard, any extras are ok.

Also be sure it matches or exceeds the wattage if your old power supply. IE if your old was 300 watts, you need atleast a 300w supply but its ok to use a 400w if need be.
