Comment:

My emachine T2824 recently failed to start. From other posts, sounds like motherboard and maybe more.

I have a new in box T3506. Can I put the T2824 harddrive in the T3506 as a second drive? Just by attaching power and motherboard cables? (Hopefully a simple way to save and use my data.)

Quite probably, although you'll need to configure the 2nd drive's jumper to 'slave'. If it shows up correctly in the BIOS, you did it right

Could you tell me how to configure the t2824 drive to slave? Are there physical jumper wires on the harddrive?

On the hard drive that you want to set as a slave there should be a label on the hard drive showing where the jumper pins are and what position you need to set the jumper at to make it a slave drive. If you don't see it on the label, turn the drive over and look at the circuit board. On the end of the drive you should see a 40 pin IDE cable connection, then the jumper pins (10) and then a power connection (4 larger rounder pins). On the circuit board right next to the jumpers pins you should see some writing to indicate which pins need to be jumped for the drive to be a slave. The jumper itself is a plastic plug with metal insides that fit over one pair of pins.
