Comment: Hey guys. I have very little computer knowledge, but I am having a big problem with my EMACHINE....which it seems is no shock at all, reading the messages on here...I bought a T2460 with a flat screen monitor from Best Buy about 3 months back, no problems....UNTIL.... I bought Star Wars Galaxies. And wanted to play it. But the built in video card is junk, and my friend bought me a ATP 7000 series or something. We tried to install it, and it wouldn't read on my system (which we since found they aren't compatable...thanks emachines....) But when this happened, a new problem arose, and that is the what baffles me now. My monitor is acting insane. It appears to be stretched at all ends, the screen does, and it is too big...like, i cant only get 75% of the screen, the edges are cut off...like a widescreen to fullscreen movie. I cannot fix this, and to make matters worse, the screen goes out sometimes. I am writing this on a much smaller, older screen, and am desperately in need of some help. If you have any advice for me, it would be MOST appreciated. I'd greatly appreciate it....

Reply: (edit)Just to check a few things first, you did put the old card back in right? And you did try re-adjusting the size on the monitor? So your problem is that you put a new video card in, ATI Radeon 7000 maybe? (not a fast card anyways, I had one, its very, very, very slow). Then it didn't work? What happened when you tried to install? Did the computer not even boot? Or what, how do you know its not compatible? Then you put old card back in, and now the display is all screwed up and it even turns off randomly. So now the smaller monitor works on the same computer? Don't get why the bigger monitor would be screwed on the same comp. Keep me posted, if it is the computer, reinstalling windows would most likely fix the problem, but if a different monitor on the same computer is working fine, I think its the settings on the bigger monitor.

Reply: (edit)Sounds like you just have some setting mis-configured. You probably already tried this, but if you R/click on the desktop, Properties, Settings, make sure the resolution is set properly for your monitor. Also, if you installed the drivers for your Radeon Card I suggest deleting them; they could be causing probs with E-Machine's drivers. Also, make sure that your BIOS settings for your on-board video are set properly; possibly they got altered when you tried to install the Radeon card. You probably aren't in the mood for this, but next time you want to purchase a computer, really consider building your own. For what you paid for that E-Machine, you could set yourself up in a really hot AMD machine that wouldn't give you these kind of probs. Hope this helps. Good Hunting!

Reply: (edit)yeah i had an e-machines for my first comp then built a way better one for the same price, oh and is it a flat screen or lcd scree? lcd screens are insanely non-reliable but anyway...yeah uninstall the ati drivers, never buy ati again, and check bios, if that doesn't work then go with a restore from the cd, but back up your stuff you want to keep, hope this helps
