eMachine desktop keep shutting down by itself

Specs: Windows Vista
Hi, I would like to know why my computer keeps shutting down. I turn it on, but it takes a really long time to start-up, but then it shuts down. It doesn't always turn off at the exact same time. Sometimes it takes 30 seconds to shut down, sometimes 3 minutes, but it always turns off. Also, it makes a different noise than the one it usually makes when starting-up.
I noticed that sometimes, when this is happening, that a pop-up appears saying that "Windows cannot repair itself automatically", and then tries to send information to repair itself, but it always ends up shutting down. Right now I'm using a public computer, so I can't access my own computer, but it would be really helpful if you could send me any information. Thanks!

First thing to do is clean out the dust. Particularly around the fan & heatsink.

Try to see where the noise is coming from, it could be a fan or the hard drive. If its the hard drive,

BACKUP your data, NOW!!!!

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.
