Recently, I purchased a 30GB 2.5" HDD on ebay to use on my laptop. I opened the HDD on my desktop and noticed the EISA Configuration(31MB) as header. I then set partition and formatted in FAT 32. I tried NTFS but it seemed to hang. The EISA Config. is in FAT 32 format. What is EISA? How can I get rid of this and partition and format as I have done with other 2.5 HDD?
Please provide your expertise.
Thanks,
Len

EISA is Extended Industry Standard Architecture, the type of hidden partition created and used by OEM system builders for restoration of the preinstalled OS. It's their way of "putting things back the way they were at the factory." You will need to use something like BootItNG to remove this partition.
