Several of my EHD's frequently fail to list when
I plug them into my USB 2.0 ports. Doesn't
matter if I'm using a powered hub or not. Only
a few of them semi-regularly fail to properly list
(ie; such that their contents are accessible) as
they list as 'Local Drive' instead of "EHD1",
etc.Whatever is the issue (suspect its either a
Windows bug exacerbated by something
amuck on the EHD's (even tho they're all setup
the same way, ie; quick removal, immediate
deletions and no system restore for them).I still kind of believe it's a Windows system
restore related snafu, but disabling that and
even assuring there aren't any RP files
anywhere, still doesn't remedy the
annoyances of have to fiddle with the EHD's to
get them to list properly. My only workaround is clicking the safe
removal icon in the systems tray, clicking the
'stop' option, powering off and back on the
EHD. Then it lists as I've named it and
moreover, contains the directories that are in
'em.Maybe it's just the EHD themselves, but I
suspect otherwise as the issue comes and
goes (mostly comes). And I've tried all sorts
of differing ways to disco them, but the issue
returns seemingly at random.Otherwise it wouldn't surprise me it's NIS2009
causing the issue.Just posted this as unbelievably I don't see
any hits on the forum (or anywhere else for
that matter) with regards to this, I'm fairly
certain, not all that infrequent of an issue. So don't bother using stuff like PC Inspector or
other recovery software, and most of all don't
format until giving it the old college try.Regards and hap-e-trails, Steve Hopper
