Well, still having difficulties getting the CMOS/BIOS password stripped. I've decided to go ahead and try the EEPROM programmer but i'm having trouble tracking down the exact specs on the chip. I don't want to use generic codes and fry it so if anyone has any experience with this i'd greatly appreciate it. I'm allowed to fry this machine so i'm not to worried about experimenting although it would be nice to nail it on the first chance.
thanks.

Is this your previous post here?
http://computing.net/hardware/wwwboard/forum/27434.html
Did you do read the manual link that I posted, and did you do what the manual instructed?IF IF IF this is a bios password, there is NO NEED to be a fiddlin' with a 'prom.
Have you been to this excellant site which talks a BUNCH about Thinkpad passwords?
http://www.ja.axxs.net/unlock/
http://www.ja.axxs.net/unlock/manuals.htm
ABSOLUTELY READ the following page:http://www.ja.axxs.net/unlock/key_for_570.htm
SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE TO
"""The way a TP prompts for passwords and the whole security scenario with TP's
is vague and confusing."""
AND
"""Power ON Password or Supervisor Password prompt ?"""
READ that whole section, and after you have done all that, THEN you can fiddle with 'promsALSO on ebay, I occasionally see supposed 'proms for sale that are supposed to be cleaned of passwords for similar (Thinkpad) machines.
And last, IF the previous post is yours, PLEASE do not start new posts for the same problem. Those of us who ARE trying to help just have to jump back and forth to figure out what you did earlier.
