Hi,
I've purchased a Sony DVD Camcorder (DCR-DVD203) and I want to copy my video files on my hard disk in order to edit them in the Windows Movie Maker, to make a movie. I can transfer the video files on my hard drive, in mpg format (sometimes it also says "video clip"), and I have the video and the sound when I play back the file in Windows Media Player. But when I go to Windows Movie Maker and import the clips from the hard drive, all I get is the audio track, but the movie itself - the moving pictures - doesn't show. When I play the file in Movie Maker, it's just a black background with the sound of the video.
I need to have both video and sound to build up my movie.
Is there a way to do this with my handycam? e.g. to convert the video clips into .avi or .wmv?

Did you install all the sony software?
DVD Format Video Recording1
The DVD recording format delivers digital picture and sound quality comparable to that of MiniDV, but on DVD. Playback of the DVDs couldn’t be simpler. After finalizing the disc in the camcorder, the disc can play back in most DVD Players, computers and even PlayStation® 2 video game consoles1.
Nero could handle the mpg, but sony says it has software for this.

Go over your manual carefully.
Considering the speed of your processor, may be best to make a disc, then rip using dvddecrypter and edit with nero or DVDShrink
Virtualdubmod is free and handles mpg2.KPACHbIЙ OKTIABR
