ECS K7S5A won't post

I just bought an ECS K7S5A and a 2000+. I put everything together and when I turn it on nothing happens. I can open and close the cd-rom and all the fans turn but nothing ever happens - no beeps or anything. I took the board out of the case and disconnected everything but the videocard, ram and cd-rom.
I've tried a tnt2 agp and a radeon pci. I also tried pc133 and pc2100 in both available slots for each. I've also cleared the CMOS more than once. I'm thinking the only options I have left are to try a different power supply and to try a different CPU (I have a 1700+ thoroughbred).
I've seen a lot of people with this same problem but haven't seen any solutions other than just taking the board back. Any suggestions?

I've recently heard that there was a bad batch, is this true?

It does sound like a bad board I have to say. However, before you RMA it test a known working CPU in it with known working RAM, AGP graphics card and also a decent PSU - 28A +5V / 30A +3.3V / 15A +12V.

I just bought a Gigabyte 7VAX and everything works fine. I'm pretty much fed up with the ECS board and I'm going to return it.
