Another thicko question! I just bid for some memmory on Ebay, another 256mb to add to my current 256mb. However the ad says it is ECC Compatible compatible, and I'm not sure whether my motherboard is. I have an ASUS A7N266-VM motherboard, the website and instructions are no help (or I'm PC illiterate, hmmmm), can anyone tell me if this memory will work in my motherboard?? Thanks

nope it won't work. nForce chipsets are not ECC compatible. nForce is made for performance and speed and killed support for ECC since this is slower this is the memory spec 2 DIMMs up to 1.0GB of PC2100/1600 non ECC DDR memory support This means 2 memory sticks (obviously you know this) PC2100/1600 refers to Front Side Bus speed (FSB) of 100Mhz for PC2100, I don't know 1600 but its probably 66 Non ECC is Not Error Correction Code DDR - Dual Data Rate, means instead of reading/writing to the memory once per system clock it W/R twice per system clock cycle.

It had better be pretty freakin cheap to be even worth buying used memory. New memory with a lifetime warranty is not very pricey. Jimi_l
