Hey I just got some new RAM. its 256k pc2100 ECC. i put it in my Biostar M7VIG and it starts beeping - beeping is bad. could my mother board not be compatible with ECC memory or is it something else....?

Some motherboards do not support ECC, and ECC RAM is more expensive than non-ECC.
For most home users ECC is unnecessary, although my home computer was ECC equipped. Unless ~all~ of the installed RAM is ECC, it won't work anyway.
You can find the motherboard specs for your computer online at the maker's website. Or you may be able to use the online memory calculator at www.Crucial.com.
