Hi first let me just say I have no problems with my computer just a question I hope someone can answer for me. Sorry if this isn`t the right forum for this question.

What is better comcast cable which I have right now or Earthlinks DSL? Right now im paying 50 a month for cable. Your start out at 29.95 a month for earthlink DSL for 6 months an then eventually im paying 50 a month for Earthlink DSL which is the same price as my cable.

Is there a difference speed an better downloads? Thats what I really want to know. What do I need to use DSL? It is available in my area. I have a network card I think thats all I need besides the modem for DSL. I would appreciate any help you can tell me thanks!.

Earthlink DSL runs over Verizon lines and gets 2nd priority to Verizon customers. It also gets third party support.

Comcast reps/techs etc are most probably THE biggest idiots (next to Dell) I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

I would go right to the source and get Verizon DSL

While the comcast techs are not the sharpest knife in the drawer cable almost always smokes DSL in download speeds. You most likely will get ADSL which means your download and upload speed are not the same and they DO NOT guarantee the speeds you may get with DSL.

You also have to be within at least 15,000 feet of the CO if you want it to work properly. If you are up around the 13,000 plus radius of the CO you will most likely have a lot of issues.

It can also take up to a month to get DSL installed where cable is going out and buying a modem. Call the jump start number, give them the serial # and MAC ID and away you go.

In my town DSL (or ADSL) is cheaper, faster and more reliable. It is however, distance limited as KTTD mentioned.

It obviously depends on your area, go and look at a few machines for yourself.

My old mans cable connection is rated three times the speed my DSL is, but he never sees the consistant thruput I do. Same goes in town with my fellow apartment dwellers.

YMMV. Your mileage may vary. I have Roadrunner cable and would never consider DSL.

Ask your local friends what they use & how happy they are.

I'll toss in another vote for Comcast cable over DSL at least in central CA. Faster and less down time.

my vote goes to DSL, in atl i have seen it download 5 songs in less then 3 sec against a cable which was right next to the dsl which downloaded the same songs, but took about a minute. My 2 cents
