I keep getting close but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I've tried 3 different earphone/microphone combos on my laptop to run my voice recognition GPS program but none of them are comfortable over the long haul. I do have, however, a very comfortable headset for my cell phone. What I'm hoping someone can help me locate is an adapter to go from a 2.5 mm stereo jack (to accept the cellphone size plug) to 2 separate 3.5 mm monophonic plugs (to fit the laptop).

The problem underlies (as I think you are aware since you know you need 2 jacks) is the fact that a laptop have seperate jacks for the microphone and earpiece.
Even if you did find the correct size adapter, I'm not sure if it would work.
Good luck in your search though, someone else might have more insite than me.

If you can't fix it, blow it up and deny that you saw anything.

Gee... that was helpful.
So, on what do you base your thought that it won't work? The only thing I can think of that might not work correctly is the impedance of the microphone and/or the earphone. But I seriously doubt either is going to be much of a factor.

My thought that it won't work is this
If you look at a jack, you will see black bands around them
Each of these bands seperate a different wire connection.
I don't know what the wire hook-up is for a cell phone ear piece.
That is why I said I "think" It might not work.
You could always try it with a stereo jack adapter and find out.

If you can't fix it, blow it up and deny that you saw anything.
