Solved E525 laptop display not working

E-machines 6-cell e-machines e525 laptop...

Specs: Windows 7
Emachine E525 laptop display not working, works if I use VGA the VGA will work. I hit Fn+F6 and the display will work for a few seconds, then blank out again. I have tried changing drivers, opening the laptop and checking the ribbon cable connections, and reinstalling windows.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help you can offer. Grand daughter's laptop, and school is starting soon

The emachines E525 are plagued with back-light failures.
Start the laptop and shine the light on the screen, now do u see the image(u have to be closer to the screen)?

Thanks for your reply.

I called emachine and they told me to try a 'power drain'. basically, it involves shutting down, disconnecting everything except the power cord, removing the battery...then booting back up.

VOILA !!! it worked. I shut down again, put the battery back in, and now the laptop display works!

I have no idea how it fixd it, but I'll take it.

OK, I spoke too soon.
As to your earlier post, when I shine a flashlight on it, I do see a very faint image on the display.
I think I have it narrowed down to either the backlight or the inverter, but I am not sure which part to order.
Any suggstions on how to tell which part is bad?
