Solved DVR RW mot found after system restore

August 3, 2012 at 12:37:57
Specs: Windows Vista
After using restore disk/s that came with my Toshiba P205D-S74338 the DVR RW (original unit) is not showing up. Have tried updating driver and search says best driver is present. Updated BIOS - did not resolve issue. Can someone tell me where to find the correct driver for my Pioneer DVR 17LF or suggest how to solve problem?

OS= Vista Home Premium SP2
DVR did work fine before doing restore.

DVD drives don't need special drivers. The drivers are built into Windows. And you didn't do a "system restore", that's a Windows feature. You mentioned discs so you probably did a "system recovery". Did you check the Toshiba website?

Thanks for your response.
You are correct, I did a system recovery using the disks provided by Toshiba. I have checked the Toshiba support site and nothing seemes to be available. When I check the properties for the DVR in Device Manager this message is shown. "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" /// I have tried to update the driver but it didn't help.

Did you not understand my response? There are no drivers to update. Did you bother to click on the link I posted?? I found that in less that a minute at the Toshiba site. It explains exactly how to fix the problem.

Hi riider,

Thanks again for your help. I apologize for my failure to fully read and follow through concerning your first response. It has been a very trying week and if I had not started the recovery project before we received word that our grandson had died I would not have attempted it until later. But thanks to you and your patience I am happy to report that the link you supplied worked and I have my DVD drive back and working.

This problem is SOLVED! Thanks again.
