I just purchased a nice Viewsonic 19" widescreen monitor which has both vga and dvi inputs. My cable is currently a regular vga cable attached to the vga input on the monitor and dvi via a dvi to vga adapter to my 8600gts card.

My question is, will I notice much of a picture quality difference if I purchase a straight dvi to dvi cable to attach the monitor directly to the card?

No, you won't notice the difference unless you're using a *really* crappy VGA cable.

Before I upgraded to a video card which forced me to use DVI, I was using analog VGA at a resolution of 1920x1200. The picture was perfectly clear; when I switched to the DVI-only video card, I didn't see ANY difference.

I'm hearing different things from different folks, not just here either. Oh well, they aren't that much, I'll just buy one and see what happens.
