I have an ATI all in wonder card with DVI-I dual link and HDMI outputs. The monitor I am looking at has DVI-D and HDMI inputs. On the card, there are 28 pins for the DVI-I. On the monitor, there are 24 pins for the DVI-D. What kind of DVI cable do I need? Or can I just hook up an HDMI cable? I understand that HDMI carries both video and audio but if there are no speakers on your monitor will you hear the sound? Or can you plug external speakers to outputs on the monitor if it's so equipped? Thanks.

Addendum to above: can you connect speakers to an output for headphones? Monitor does not have speakers but has an output for headphones.
