Anyone know of a way to use an HD television as a computer monitor? My TV is a bit older and only had component (RCA RGB)inputs (NO HDMI) and I'd like to output one of my DVI signals to the TV. I have two Nvidia Quadro FX 4500 video cards giving me a total of four DVI outs, two already in use with dual monitors.
I've seen straight DVI to component cables
http://sewelldirect.com/DVI-to-Comp...

As well as DVI to component adaptors
http://www.abccables.com/dvimato3rc...

But fro what I've found, these may not work. The adaptor stresses it will only work with ATI Radeon cards, and others have said that only DVI to HDMI (which I don't have) are the only things that will work. I don't want to spend $180 on a VGA to Component adaptor (and these have all been HDMI as far as I've found). And no local retailers sell anything like this - meaning I'll have to buy over the internet and not be able to return it if it doesn't work...

Thanks in advance.

Your cards appear to have no TV out capability, and neither of the adapters you provided links to will work unless the card circuits were designed to be able to use such adapters.
Here are examples of something that would work for your regular TV but they are only for VGA and still cost around $150 - if there is no mention of DVI-I to VGA adapters working with your cards in your manual or documentation, these won't work for you either:
E.g.
Grandtec Ultimate Wireless PC to TV System

AITech ProPC/TV Wireless PC to TV Converter

These will also work - ONLY if you can adapt a DVD-I port to VGA:

KWorld PC to TV (0872880887527) Video Capture $41 to $71

AverMedia QuickPlay PC To TV Converter; VGA or iMac DV $75

GrandTec Ultimate 2000 PC To TV Converter $70

Thanks for the replies. Here's what Nvidia tech support had to say...

"Thank you for contacting NVIDIA Customer Care

You will need a DVI to VGA adaptor and a VGA to Component transcoder to have the proper connection.
Please verify with the retailer before making your purchase

Here are some example

Best regards

So you CAN use a DVI-I to VGA simple adapter - good!

You did say
"My TV is a bit older and only had component (RCA RGB)inputs (NO HDMI)"

All of the ones I pointed to are for the older standard component outputs - ones for HDTV will not work for that TV.
