I just purchased an LCD monitor which came with a standard VGA connector. My video card has 2 dv-i out ports, will I see image improvement using a dv-i connection vs a standard vga connection?

Only if you have a DVI connection on the card to a DVI connection on the monitor. Once any VGA connection is involved the signal will deteriorate.
