What does Device Manager have to say about the drive?

Set bios boot order to CD/DVD drive as first boot device and try booting to it using any bootable CD, eg: your XP instal disk.

Will it boot? If so your problem is software related. If not then it's hardware.

What do you mean you had to repair? Why didn't you just remove the trojan? Are you sure your system is trojan free? Disable system restore (all restore points will be lost), boot into safe mode & run this:

Once you're sure the system is clean, re-enable system Restore & set a restore point.
