Comment: Hell everyone! I have a problem with my DVD-RW drive. When I insert random disc to my drive, it will work normally etc BUT if I left disc to drive and drive will slow down and later try to access my CD again, PC freezes. Later system will respond again but DVD drive is gone both from My Computer and Device Manager. After restart it's back again. Lately I changed DVD-RW jumber from cable select to master (drive is now secondary master) and I tgought I fixed my problem but now it's back. Please, does anyone may know what will cause this problem! Thanks!

Reply: (edit)Have you checked your drive cable? Is it newer or old? Check the cables; if you can swap the current cable for a new - you can rule out (or rule in) that possibility. Also make sure that the cable is connected tight enough to both your hard drive and DVD drive. Also, do you have an adequate power supply? Have you made any changes to your hardware or software other than the drive? Do you have the latest firmware for your drive? Post back with what you find..good luck.
