I have a Memorex DVD+RW/+R Drive and every time I put a blank DVD-RW or DVD-R disk in, the computer refuses to recognize the presence of the disk and the orange LED on the front of the drive just flashes endlessly until i remove the disk.

Even when I use DVD burning sofwares both the one that came with it and other programs, it just spins the disk, flashes the LED, and acts like nothing is in the drive.

"I have a Memorex DVD+RW/+R Drive and every time I put a blank DVD-RW or DVD-R disk". If it is a DVD+RW/+R drive it will not write to DVD-RW/-R media. Have you tried a DVD+RW/+R disc?

Well, which is it. In your first post you said you used DVD-R and DVD-RW. Now you're saying you have only tried DVD+RW and DVD+R.

They are two totaly different formats and if you drive only supports the + format, then you won't be able to use the - format.

Your right.. .i was using the dvd-r and dvd-rw disks. So what is the difference? They really should've labled them DVD-R(Type A) and DVD-R(Type B) if they are different types

Shoot I didn't even notice that there was a difference with the + and -, that is without you pointing it out to me (thanks by the way).

I would also bookmark this site. I've just recently started burning DVD's and the site has been a fantastic resource for information.
