Hey I have a question about DVD burners I’m looking into buying one for my self and I got in to some confusion with some terminology and specific usage of it especially with the “r plus (r +) ” and “r minus (r -)” if anybody out there knows and has a sec to explain this to me I would be vary grateful Thanks a lot matt

I don't have the specific info on the formats themselves but they are significantly different. The primary concern is will the formats you can burn play in a standard DVD player? I believe that the DVD-R format is the DVD player compatible one but you will definitely want to verify this.

They are just different and competing formats, like Beta and VHS video, although DVD/+R burners can read DVD/-R discs and vice versa. Sony have just released a drive that will burn to both formats, but it is about $200 dearer than drives that write to just one of the formats.
