Hi.
My computer's DVD-ROM Drive will not read any type of disc. The Drive I have is an LG Drive with model Number HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B. I have tried using a CD Laser Lens Cleaner Disc it worked but when I tried puting a different disc into the drive the Disc did not work. So I tried putting the Lens Cleaner Disc back in but it didn't work. I don't know what to do. If anyone has any suggestions please tell me.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure the drive is recognized by bios on start up and in My Computer. If you are using a burning program like Nero or Roxio,Remove it and remove all traces from the folders under Programs and from the Registry by doing a search for the above keyword(Nero for example).Delete all entries you find.To get the Registry type regedit in Start/Run.Reboot.Reinstall the program and reboot.Good luck.

Hi, Remove the Drive from DEVICE MANAGER and reboot. Usually WINDOZE gets it right on the reboot. Ain't Plug and Pray grand?
Good Luck, Jim

Hi.

Thanks for all of the Suggestions.

Yes the BIOS does recognize the drive.

Whenever I insert any disc into the drive it does spin. The Drive does show up in My Computer.

I have already tried removing the drive from Device Manager. And that did not work. The drive is plug and play.

I will try removing it from the Device Manager again.
I will tell you if it worked or not.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Is there anything else you recommend that I try?
