DVD+R disc not recognised on computer

Specs: Windows XP
A friend put some holiday pics on a Tesco DVD+R disc for me but I am unable to view them, My computer does recognise that there is even a disc when I insert it.

ur computer recognizes that there is a disk or does not recognize?
go to run type devmgmt.msc in that window the device manager window look for cd\dvd rom drives expand selection and right click then uninstall reboot pc and check again
does it read other disks?

"Tesco DVD+R", I still find sometime that a drive just wont play some particular brand but, plays other cds fine.

Does your Optical Drive Support DVD +R format ?

If the disk was created by windows 7 or vista or maybe even macos the format may not be able to be used on your computer.
