DVD/CD Drive no longer recognize backup CD-Rs

May 29, 2010 at 04:11:48
Specs: Windows XP

DVD/CD Drive is no longer recognizing a Data CD-R (Back-up) that I have used many times to re-install an application or retrieve files.

It works in other computers so I know the disc is not bad.

The drive runs/plays other discs but has given up the ghost on this one.

All System checks and repairs undertaken with no obvious errors / faults returned.

Pretty annoying... any thoughts out there ?

Make sure the CD-R is clean:

Then try a CD laser lens cleaner on the drive; available at stores that sell electronics:

If those don't work, chaulk another one up for the computer gremlins. THEY EXIST!

Just another stupid saying...
