Comment:

My Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop has a DVD+/-R /RW writer, Does it support writting on DVD-RDL (8.5GB) ?

Cause I tried once, the lap wrote in the first layer but, when the second layer comes, it stopes writting and gives an error message saying that calboration space is full or something like that, I didn't understand.

So, does a standard DVD R/RW writer support writing on DVD-RDL discs ?

In a word, NO. The laser has to be different to do that.

they do not all support dual layer. i would think that newer ones do , but for example my dvd writer in my desk top does not support dual layer because it is too old.
if you have a look in Device Manager to see make / model of the actual drive and then google that you might find something useful

Gotcha.

No prob after all, I'm using DVD-R discs.

What about blu-ray or HD-DVD discs, these are new but, I didn't see a device to buy in the market for using these discs.

There are internal drive that will handle those formats. HD is a dead format. Officially abandoned. Blueray is alive and available. The drives and media are quite expensive though. The links below are examples. The drive link is for Blueray burners. If all that you wish to do is view Blueray disks you can buy a cheaper read only unit. Blockbuster in my area carries very few titles in Blueray format. IMO it is currently a waste of money. I have a dual layer burner and don't own any DL media. The cost difference makes it not cost effective to use. I only burn DVDR for imaging of my computers so the capacity is not a big issue.

Thanks for the info.

I'll get to the market and see, because, computer parts are rare here in Kuwait.
