Hi,

I am currently experiencing problems with writing onto a DVD-R...well not exactly as the files write to the source but for some reason I CANNOT get the DVD to play on my DVD-ROM Drive or DVD Player only my DVD-RW Drive.

I don't understand as it was working fine the other day and I have never had this problem before.

I am currently using NERO 6 with G05 Discs (the same discs I have been using from the start with no probs before).

It isn't as if the files have not been finalised either as NERO successfully finalises the disc ok - which I would presume as I can watch it with my RW Drive, but this is no good.

Does anyone have any suggestions - is it a hardware / software problem?

What about if I uninstall and Reinstall Nero 6, do you think this might help?

Thanks in advance. :-(

Lisa

Only plays in same burner used to create disc? Do I have that right?

New batch of discs?
Did you just update nero?
Make of burner?
Checked all the preferences?
Which nero application?
Burns cds ok?

Updating nero causes nero to claim disc burn success, yet it still must do the lead out, well on this machine anyways.
Although the plugin for dvdshrink works very good.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

yes it onbly plays in the drive which the DVD was created.

They are a new batch of discs but I have 3 sets - I have even tried an old set and still the same problem which worked ok PREVIOUSLY before this nightmare.

No I haven't updated Nero - I didn't know you could do that?! I have always just installed Nero 6 version just straight from the disc.

Make of Burner - do you mean the make of the writer drive? If so, it say EMPREX on the front, don't think its a brilliant one just one purchase din PC world - probably on offer lol.

Preferences - not really checked to be honest not really sure what I am looking for or at..

Application: Nero Recode DVD-Video(sometimes use COPY DISC although I haven't on this error occassion).

I haven't checked if it burns CDS ok - I would presume this is ok, I will try it though.

Thanks.

Emprex talks about Princo discs, and your problem. Link from there to update firmware.

Suggest trying to update firmware.
Update nero. Be aware of the mentioned bug after update I mentioned.

Preferences are great at default, I just turn off overburn of cds or dvds.

I uninstalled Incd, really caused the PC to act odd after reboot.

Usually its a multi session disc that causes this.
Or using Incd. or nero rom UDF.
DVD drive dying a slow death.

Hi,

Thanks for all that I will try Emprex website to update firmware first then.

I take it I just visit www.nero.com to update Nero. When you say beware of the mentioned bug - what bug is this?

Preferences: How do I go about changing them to default or turning off overburn of cds or dvds? Soz to be a pain!

What is Incd?

Cheers.

The bug I get is: Box pups up claiming disc burn complete, right after ALL the files are burned. Yet the lead out begins at that point. let the burner finish and the light go out a few moments, then hit the OK button.

Open nero rom, from file, preferences, expert tab, uncheck the overburns if checked. Leave all else alone.

Incd is a packet writing utility that never really worked out. Can work along ok, then one day wooops. Wont ever read a disc again made with.

And if that drive is still under warranty I would contact them and get a case number logged.

The only other thing. Burning 8x or 16x dvd disc on a 4x burner without the firmware updates. Most any manufactuers claim this can damage the drive. And if you contact Emprex, well.......

Thanks.

I think all is sorted anyway now - I used the 'Copy Disc' option and has copied fine and works on DVD Player. My firmware was up to date according to the website and when I tried to download to make sure it said upto date - so I am not sure what was really wrong...or even more to the point how it was fixed?!? I am sure my computer has a mind of its own and does what it likes when it likes (must be a woman computer, lol)

Arh well, will probably have a different problem tomorrow!

Thanks for your help.

Yes ma'am, I named my PC after a fictitious Orville and Wilbur Wright flight company. A pioneering company of sorts.

Admitting to not no much about female PC's, I can say I have burnt 2 bad discs before.

1. From the beggining I did burn aprox 200 -r discs. Then One day I snuck in the first +r disc and as soon as nero started the lead in, the whole operation fell on its face.
2. Once the anti virus started its scan and caused a buffer underrrun.

Well must be getting on in the night in GB. Good evening Lisa

David
