Oh, this is a bit funny, anyways:
I want to buy DVD, however, every product contains "numbers" at it's description, which indicates its speed, but, I don't know how to "Read" it(what indicates what).
For example: "8/4/12//32/16/40".
Plus, there are times with ± symbols. So it means it supports + and - right?
okay, now to the final question, as I've mentioned above, I'm interesting in buying DVD Writer, if anyone could recommend me about, that would be great, anyways, here is a list, I thought on buying one of them(you could recommend me which one of them, its lame, however):
NEC ND-1300A 4/2.4/12//16/10/40 Bulk DVD±R/RW - 149$
NEC ND-2500A 8/4/12//32/16/40 Bulk DVD±R/RW - 168$
Toshiba SD-R5112 4/2/12//16/10/40 Bulk DVD-RW - 101$ (although I've heared it writes dvd on 1x and upgrading its firmware won't work at all)
LG DVD-RW+RW GSA-4081B X8 - 139$ (although in my country we still don't have 8 media)
DVD NU Tech DDW081(I've heard it's fkn awesome) - Writing; DVD - 8, CD - 40 - $145
That's it. The last product seems to be good.. oh, btw, lets say I buy a new PC soon, will I be able to pull out my DVD DRIVE from my old comp and connect it to the new one?
Btw, are DVDs bootable? lets say I burn 3 CDs of Linux into DVD, when I will try to install the distro, will it read those 3 CDs?

Oh, forgot to mention, if it writes CDs and DVDs, then it could read them, right? if it writes it reads..

Howdy, Can give you some basic info but don't know about bootable DVDs but if your burn program supports it it may well do it(?)
from your post>For example: "8/4/12//32/16/40".
I believe this shows 8=DVDR write speed, 4=DVDRW rewrite speed, 12=DVD reading speed, 32=CDR write speed, 16=CDRW rewrite speed, 40=CD read speed.
Note all these #s are rated maximums and not what you may actually experience inusage.Yes "with ± symbols" means it does both formats.
Yes if it writes a format then it reads the same.
Sure you should be able to pop it into a new(er) machine anytime, just save any driver disk(s).
Hope this helps.

If it reads, yes it writes. No you cant burn 3 Linux CD's onto a DVD and have it boot correctly. Bootable CD's are fitted with a boot image, take Linux Install CD's for example, If you were to copy all the data from a CD, and burn it to another CD or to a DVD, it would no longer boot. Now if you did a exact copy of the CD, it also copies the boot image. So to answer your question, no you cant copy all the data from the 3 Linux install CD's and then burn it onto a single DVD and hope it installs.
