I have a dvd writer but know leads to connect to laptop. Is there a lead that does this

What type of writer do you have? One that is intended as a stand alone or something designed to work with a computer?

Post the brand and full model number off the unit.

OK, if you live in the USA or Canada you can order either of the parts linked below from newegg.com which is where the links take you. If you live elsewhere in the world you will need to find a different supplier.

The first link is a multi type drive adapter that works with just about any drive you might come accross. It doesn't look nice though.

The second is a metal enclosure that you install the writer inside of and that is all it is good for.

Your writer uses an IDE type data connection. The link below for the enclosure is for an IDE type only.

You could also just buy the third link below and not have to do anything but connect it to the AC and a USB port.




I own the first adapter and can state it works.

No I don't. Don't you have any stores that sell computer stuff near you. I suggested above that you just buy an External DVD writer that connects by USB cable. Or shop locally for the first type that I linked above. Did you even look at them?
