Looks like you need to download the file(s) and decompress them to a bootable floppy or CD, then run the application dvflash. The underscore (dvflash_260d.bin) appears to be an error. I don't believe there should be an underscore. I think it should read

dvflash 260d.bin

You can make a bootable floppy from within Windows XP. Right click Drive A: and select format. Click MS-DOS startup disk.

You will then have a boot disk that you can copy the update files to and then boot from that disk.

All the data will not fit on a floppy. Can you make a ms dos bootable cd?

Thee are only three files in the download, the biggest, the actual dat file 260D.bin is only 373KB, The flash application is 25 Kbs and the help file is 1KB. There are 868Kbs free once you have created the boot floppy.

They will fit on a floppy with loads of room to spare. You can create a MS-DOS bootable CD, but why bother when you can use a floppy.

I created the msdos floppy as described above and when I tried to extract the files to the boot floppy it says there is not enough room!

Extract the files to the hard disk first. Then copy the files to the floppy. Extracting from a Zip files requires twice that space as the files for temporary buffers.

There wont be enough room on the floppy to do that.

Thats the way I tried it, did it both ways and no go. I just looked at the size of the files and just one file alone is exactly 1mb

Sorry, just looked again. I was looking at the packed size, not the unpacked size.

In that case copy the files to another formatted floppy disk but no system files. Boot from the boot floppy. Remove the boot floppy and insert the second disk with the flash files on them. You can then run the flash utility.

When you have finished you may get a message, "Cannot find Command.com". Nothing to worry about as the process has will have completed by this time. Just reinsert the boot floppy and press Enter.
