I think that it is just the termilogy that people use. Double or dual layer is meaning the same thing. A DVD disk with a double layer has two layers to store data on it.

"A DVD disk with a double layer has two layers to store data on it."...it can store up to 8.5GB of data.
Of course the DVD player you intend to play it back on must also be able to play back double or dual layer DVD formats.

Double layer = Dual Layer /= doube size 8)

Most of normal dvd drives should be able to play dual layer dvds fine, so no worry about that.

Oh! I got a question on double layers dvd! Is it that one data stored on one side of the side, the other data store on the other side of the disc? Like a normal tape cassette got A and B part!

Thats a flipper disk. An dual layer disc, requires the laser to focus on either layer, that are on one side of disk.
