I have recently bought a Philips PBDV1628G/00 16x DVD±RW however, Windows Media Player and Real Player both told me that I needed extra software before I could play dvd's so I have now installed Win DVD 2000, but what happens now when I try and play a dvd is that Win DVD "encounters a problem and needs to close" and Real Player and Media Player just close with no warning. Any Ideas??

Lets see.... Your in the UK? You have XP? Win DVD 2000 is for ......Platform: Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 98 Now XP is NT based, Win2000 may be the issue. This is an OEM drive? Assuming you had Win2000 laying around, you may have to pay out and get a software player for XP. Nero includes a decent dvd player. Whatever you choose to buy for burning software should include a player.

If you have problem with WinDVD 2000, why don't you try with the newer version such as the trial version of WinDVD 7 and see what happens? You can also try PowerDVD 6, which I really like it.
Summary: I disagree with the above....I doubt you'll encounter any probs running your 166 at 200...you may even get it up to 233. If you have other FSB settings, experiment..try 187.5 (2.5 x 75) or 225 (3 x 75...
Summary: Hi all, I just installed a DVD burner for an old timer client of mine. The burner came with Nero and NTI DVD software. The Nero software does not work at all, even the player says you need to purchase...
Summary: Yes it gets its decoder from your other software. Either way you have to buy software from somewhere! I myself have about three dvd player and editor programs, one of them being power dvd and like you...
